Local scholarship applications need to be turned in to Counselor Leslee Davis by March 30, 2011.

F.B. and Robbie Shelby Herron Memorial Citizenship Award

 

 

New/changed local scholarships:

 

Class of 2010: This scholarship will be awarded in memory of Haifa Abukhdair, Will Mallory and Blake Moore. Recipient will be chosen by Class of 2010 class officers, and must pursue a degree through a university, college or vocational/technical school. Upon proof of enrollment, a check will be sent to the chosen educational institution. Please complete this application and return to Leslee Davis by April 30. The amount awarded will be announced on Scholarship Night.

 

Life Care Center of LaCenter will give a one-time $250 scholarship. Please complete a local scholarship application.

 

The Ava Hayes Memorial Scholarship is for $1,000. Preference goes to someone entering into the medical field; applicant must have a 3.5 GPA.

Payment will be made directly to the successful applicant's college/university upon proof of enrollment, and will be distributed in two payments at the beginning of successive semesters ($500/$500). Please complete a local scholarship application.

 

Kerrie Stewart Memorial: We have been notified that there is $600 available for 2012-13. Applicants must plan to attend Western Kentucky University, must have demonstrated leadership qualities in high school, and must have high academic standing. Students planning to major in advertising shall be given priority consideration. Please complete a local scholarship application.

New/changed state-wide scholarships:

 

Two Kentucky public high school seniors will be eligible to receive the Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference Buster Bynum Scholarship. Recipients can apply the $1,000 award toward college costs for the 2012-13 school year. The application may be found here.

The scholarships are awarded to children of school bus transportation employees actively employed in public school transportation for the past five years, with a total annual family income of less than $75,000. Eligible students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and are selected based on their leadership, citizenship and service.

Application must include letters of reference from the parent/guardian's employer verifying employment; the student's high school guidance counselor or other authorized high school official verifying student GPA, anticipated graduation from high school, and planned attendance at a postsecondary educational institution in fall 2012; and from the student's teacher or an adult family acquaintance of the student, stating why the award should be made to this student.

Deadline for local selection is May 15.

 

 

Additional scholarships and awards

 

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program - Deadline June 15, 2012. Award is available to all juniors and seniors. Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the web site linked in the title. Award is for up to $1,000.

 

AgriBusiness Association of Kentucky - Deadline June 1, 2012. Applicant must be majoring in an agriculture-related field; must be enrolling in a college, university, vocational or technical college. He or she must complete this application, and three required essays. Additional requirements may be found by clicking the title link. Award is for $500 each for up to two semesters.

ACT dates


All testing is done in the BMHS cafeteria. Students should be here no later than 7:30 a.m. and plan to stay until 11:30a.m.-12 p.m. Dates are as follows:
